This course is suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced identifiers, covering microscope use, identification keys, specimen preparation and a detailed look at the key characters for those tricky species. Course content is fluid and tailored to the needs of the group. Participants are encouraged to get in touch in advance with any particular areas or issues that they would like help with.
Course tutor Steven Falk is one of the leading British experts on bee identification and has run numerous lab and field based courses.
Don't forget to bring along a copy of the Field Guide to the Bees of Great Britain and Ireland by Steven Falk and Richard Lewington.
Steven will be able to provide up to date information on using the keys, as well as errata since publication of the book in late 2015. This publication is the current key for bees and will give participants an excellent grounding in the subject allowing them to explore this beautiful and fascinating group of insects.
