Join local tracking expert Bob Cowley as he introduces you to all the common mammal tracks and signs you might come across on an Oxfordshire walk.

In this special one-day foundation course, expert tracker Bob Cowley will introduce you to all the most common mammal tracks and signs you might come across when walking in the British countryside, transforming your view of the world around you.

Our packed programme combines classroom presentations with the study of Museum specimens, and a guided walk to identify real-world examples in the surrounding area.

All welcome, but booking is essential.

Please come prepared with footwear suitable for potentially muddy conditions and clothes that will keep you warm and dry for two hours outdoors.

Itinerary:

9:30	Registration	Introductions and coffee.
9:45	Classroom session	Learn from Bob about the different characteristics of all the mammal tracks commonly seen in the UK using his extensive photograph collection, as well as Museum taxidermy and articulated skeletons.
11:45	Lunch break	An excellent range of planet-friendly meals are available for purchase at the Museum cafe, or you can bring your own packed lunch.
12:45	Classroom session	This session about animal behaviour will focus on the characteristic signs resulting from the behaviour of different species.
14:45	Tea break	Refreshments provided.
15:00	Guided walk	Join us for a walk through University Parks and along the River Cherwell as we apply our newly-gained knowledge outdoors.
16:45	Wrap-up	This session will finish at the Museum.

This special one-day course is among a range of training opportunities organised by the Mammal Society, a charity dedicated to increasing public knowledge and awareness of mammals and their conservation.
