Matthew Barton

Role Summary

Matt is responsible for managing and preserving the Museum's digital assets. This includes:

  • Overseeing a digital asset audit for all parts of the Museum
  • Enacting methods for ensuring that access to digital assets is controlled, secure, and that appropriate permissions are in place
  • Working to identify appropriate storage solutions for different types of digital assets based on legal or technical requirements
  • Working to improve digital preservation awareness and practices in the Museum.

Matt also works alongside the Librarian and Archivist to digitise and catalogue Archive materials, as well as managing collections enquiries from staff and the public.

CV

Matt has a BA in History and an MA in Medieval Studies, both from the University of Birmingham. He also has a PGDip in Archives and Records Management from University College London. He has previously worked in data analysis in the academic publishing sector.
