Unnatural Histories Tour
A tour by Uncomfortable Oxford.
The term 'natural history' might lead us to believe that the collections and research at the Museum are purely 'natural' and therefore unbiased. The Unnatural Histories tour aims to challenge this idea. While the Museum focuses mainly on natural specimens, rather than human-made objects, it is crucial to recognize that our understanding of nature is fundamentally shaped by human perspectives and biases. During this tour, we delve into the intentions and implications behind the natural history theories showcased in the museum’s collections. By scrutinizing the 'unnatural,' we explore the historical and ideological underpinnings of natural history museums, revealing a narrative shaped by human influence and choices.
Tickets are available from £5. Booking is essential.
