Associate Professor Najmeh Etemad-Saeed is a sedimentologist and geobiologist whose research focuses on the Cambrian Explosion and the environmental drivers of early animal evolution. She works on Ediacaran–Cambrian sedimentary successions in Iran, integrating stratigraphy, geochemistry, and diverse fossil evidence, including microbialites, microfossils, and macrofossils. Her current research investigates small skeletal fossils to constrain the tempo of the Cambrian Explosion and explore the role of early ecological interactions in animal diversification.
