Dr. Gaorong Li's research focuses on the morphology, taxonomy and ecology of exceptionally preserved fossils of both metazoans and macroalgae from the Ediacaran and early Cambrian of eastern Yunnan, China. He investigates the anatomy, phylogeny and taphonomy of these fossils through multiple analytical techniques, with a specific aim to to explore the early morphological and ecological evolution of bilaterian animals and how they co-evolved with the environment.
