Jon Cooter, a world authority on Leiodidae beetles, retired after 27 years work as a museum professional. During 2004-5 Jon re-housed and catalogued the Museum’s vast Dale collection of insects. Jon has donated hundreds of specimens to the Museum, including Type material, from remote regions of Kyrghizstan, Tajikistan, Tibet, Afghanistan, North Korea. Jon’s large collection of Palaearctic Leiodidae, rich in subterranean Balkan species is already housed at Oxford OUMNH. Jon has been publishing short notes and more formal papers since 1967 and has been responsible for three revisions of standard textbook “The Coleopterist’s Handbook”.
