Visitor Experience Assistant

About the role

Working under the supervision of the Visitor Experience Manager, our close-knit team of Visitor Experience Assistants provide a friendly welcome to visitors to the Museum of Natural History (800,000+ visitors per year), and assist with enquiries. They also encourage donations to the Museum and conversions to Gift Aid. The Visitor Experience Assistants play an important role in ensuring visitor safety and in the security of the building and the Museum collection, and give introductions to visiting groups.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 30 hours per week across Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to access to museum collections.

About You

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a professional attitude and a flexible approach to work. Ideally, the post holder will have experience of working in a museum or heritage visitor attraction, and experience working in a similar customer-focused environment.

The successful candidate will have a confident and proactive approach to dealing with problems and issues, as well as a positive attitude and a desire to gain knowledge of the Museum and to share this with our visitors.
