Portraits of Climate Change

The Museum of Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museum welcomed hundreds of visitors to a special Climate Justice Late Night in June this year.

It was a chance to meet researchers, activists, academics and local NGOs to find out about the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, social justice and how we can all be part of a better future for our planet. Alongside pop-up talks, craft activities, games, tours, poetry, and film, local community artist and art therapist Helen Edwards led a workshop allowing people to create portraits of climate change emotion in different materials. This display brings together some of the artwork that emerged from the workshop.

"All participants became deeply immersed in the art materials, coming into the here and now, sharing time together, with new conversations growing, self-expression and feeling
heard bringing a sense of belonging, a place in the collective, and unity in diversity." - Helen Edwards, artist.

This event was held in association with the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit.
