William Whyte is Professor of Social and Architectural History and a Fellow of St John’s College. A fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Society of Antiquaries, his books include Redbrick: A Social and Architectural History of Britain’s Civic Universities (2017) and Unlocking the Church: The Lost Secrets of Victorian Sacred Space (2017). He chairs the Oxford Preservation Trust and Oxford Historical Society and is a trustee of English Heritage.
